Location
The Hotel Dolomiti is conveniently located near Santa Lucia
Railway Station in Venice and not too far from Piazzale Roma
(parking and bus terminal). Visitors who arrive by ferry will
find the main lagoon ferry landing stages close to the hotel.
The location is perfect because the water taxis are close
by, which makes getting around easier.
The hotel is situated in the historic city centre of Venice
in a quiet Calle in the Cannaregio district.
Located in the far north of the city, Cannaregio is one of
the six historic sestieri (districts) of Venice and
it is the second largest neighbourhood. It is also the most
populated part of the city with around 20,000 inhabitants.
While visiting us, why not have a wander around this prestigious
zone, which represents the gateway to Venice. Here you’ll
find the world's oldest Jewish Ghetto. Under the Venetian
Republic, Jewish people were forced to live in this area of
Venice. In fact, the word “ghetto” is derived
from the old Venetian dialect. Other must-see attractions
include Ca' d'Oro (Palazzo Santa Sofia) - one of the oldest
and most beautiful palazzos; the little known Palazzo Labia
- an eighteenth century baroque palace; the wonderful churches
of Santa Maria dei Miracoli, and Sant'Alvise; and the Isola
di San Michele Cemetery (The Island of the Dead) - where Igor
Stravinsky, Joseph Brodsky, Sergei Diaghilev, Ezra Pound and
Luigi Nonon are buried. You’ll be spoilt for choice
when looking for souvenirs and gifts because in the surrounding
area of the hotel there are many craft shops and shopping
lanes. Ask at our tour desk for more ideas of what to do in
Venice.
